Our teachers are our best feature. Children First recruits caring and experienced teachers who are Child Development Associate certified. Our programs are based on the latest research in early child development, and teachers share curriculum and weekly activities with parents and staff.
Parents benefit with special programs, seminars and old-fashioned fun events. These provide opportunities for parents to visit with other parents and get to know our staff.
Children First Child Development Center is a nonprofit organization and an affiliate of Cheers School Family. We are proud to be part of United Way of the Northern Shenandoah Valley and Eastern Panhandle.
Food and Nutrition
Our food program is supported by the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program. We have high quality standards to include fresh fruit and vegetable options, grilled meats, whole grains, and milk with every meal. Our rotating menus provide a variety of meal options. Meals are included with tuition. To protect children with life-threatening peanut allergies, all of our programs are nut-free.
Safety and Security
We know that in order for a child to succeed in an educational environment, it is necessary for them to feel safe. Safety, both physical and emotional, are key to providing a positive learning environment.
Our facilities are equipped with several safety features including:
Key Card Entry System
Visitor Check In
Resilient Play Surfaces
The Scholarship Fund
We are proud to offer financial assistance to families in our community. We support state-subsidized children through Clarke, Frederick, Winchester City, Shenandoah and Warren Counties in Virginia and through Mountain Heart Services in West Virginia. Please contact the Centers to determine availability for these programs.
For those families who may not qualify for state-funded assistance, or may be experiencing a short-term financial struggle, the CHEERS Scholarship Fund is available as a resource to families. Funding varies due to current community donations and fundraiser income.
Your family may qualify for financial assistance. Please return your completed application with all required documents to your center.
